I tried orange peels, no help. They crapped on them. =(
I won't hurt animals.
Don't know who they belong to. My neighbor calls the humane society a few times a year and they come and pick them up and adopt them out.
In the meantime, I have shite all over my beautiful flower beds - and FLIES!!!

Stick plastic forks, tines up, in the mulch around the beds.... dig them in until only the tines are sticking up - make sure to do this randomly, about 8 - 12 inches apart. The cats won't want to get on them - kinda like the chopsticks idea, but cheaper!

Just watch out when you need to get into that flower bed yourself!

Are they neighbors' cats or strays? If they belong to someone, then ask them to kindly control their pet or for them to provide you with the advice/products needed to keep their cat/s away. It's not your responsibility, it's theirs. If they are strays, make sure that you do not have any cat attracting plants (such as catnip) and you can either buy a motion detector that sets off an annoying alarm (loud enough for the cat, but not for the people inside) or a non-toxic pet repellant. I've seen them at Home Depot.

there are products at your local nursery or online nursuries that have motion activated spayers you hook to your water hose.. they are a sprinkler system that starts and sprays the cats with water ..so its safe for the cats and your plants...

by the way the cats wont hurt most plants but the smell and the flies can get on your nerves.... i take my hose and turn the nozzle to jet and spray the cat waste into the mulch so the smell stops .. the flies leave and the soil gets some natural fetalizer....... and if that dont help ya this sight might

My sister recommends this (to her neighbors)...buy some chopsticks and poke them into the ground around your plants....stick them down so that there is about 6 inches of chopstick above the ground. Place the sticks about 8 inches apart from each other.... The cats will not want to risk walking on the chopsticks, much less digging around them...

This works every time and it wont hurt the cats but it will keep them out of your flower beds. Put Moth Balls all around your flower beds. Keeps all sorts of wild animals out of your garden. Works for me! You can even buy Moth Balls at the Dollar store. Good Luck!! I know the neighbors cat hates the smell of the Moth Balls, it dont **** in my rose garden any more!!!

I think there is a product called liquid fence that has a cat/dog repealing spray. YOu can buy it premixed. I also think the same folks who make deer off make one for cats too, but just a guess. I like the chopstick answer too.

Short of setting live traps and calling the Animal Shelter, try moth balls, filling nylons/socks/or any type of netting and laying them in inconspicuous places.
