Ive read many answers and ive realized many people hate france, people were for italy just bcause they dont like france, wats the deal

France... where to begin?

Most of what needs to be said about France has been said. I didn't believe (want to believe) that the stereotype of the rude French was true.... I thought it was either all made up or grossly exaggerated... I was wrong on both counts. Had a layover at De Gaulle, I was polite and did my best not to speak English, said please and thank you and was still met with rudeness and disgust... imagine my suprise after spending my adult life not believing such "nonsense" about the French. When the first people you meet (in the service industry no less) treat people the way they do, you lose A LOT of respect. Set aside the politics... they are not nice people.

Many of us are Americans. I do not hate France...however, here are a few reasons some do:

1) France is supposedly our friend, but has not supported us in the war on terror and in general in the UN.

2) France sold materials to build a nuclear reactor to Saddam Hussein (with Germany) against our wishes. Fortunately, Israel knocked out the reactor or we'd be dealing with a dictator with nuclear arms...much like in N. Korea..but in an area of the world that is rich in oil...which whether we like it or not is fuel not only for our cars, but our economy.

3) France people see American rich people and believe most of us are "Ugly Americans"...loud, uncouth and obnoxious. Well, were not all like that...just those from New York...LOL..just kidding.

4) France was rescued by the allies in WWI andWWII, but they don't seem to appreciate us. (they did during the Revolution). Instead of embracing Democracy, they chose socialism...okay...to each their own...but now, because they are poor, we have a more heavy social burden in the world. Perhaps, that was their plan..they give us the statue of liberty...and we take the worlds huddled masses? A joke ...kind of.

5) They think they are superior more civilized to Americans and other nations, yet during their revolution, they beheaded those who were against them and stuck the heads on sticks.

6) They don't bathe...or use deoderant often enough.

7) French wine is overpriced compared to California Wine

8) Who wants to eat snails anyway!

9) Chirac acts self important

10) One leading French Paper recently said the reason that France does not embrace its Soccer team is that too many people of color were included on the team...that rubs a lot of Americans (who know about it) the wrong way.

By the way USA is not so Nationalistic...many in America spend a great deal of their time picking at what's wrong with America...which is good...just wish Americans would realize that truly we are some of the luckiest people on earth and should be thankful to be born here rather than some desolate place on earth. May we all be peaceful...more tolerant people...seeking to enrich the world rather than to tear each other down.

I think many people believe the French to be arrogant and chauvinistic, which is true to some extent. They have flaws as everyone does. I am an American, but the patriotic nonsense that some of our countrymen display, such as "We have the strongest army in the world", "We are No.1", "God bless America" is also perceived has highly arrogant and annoying and it isn't just the French that hate us: 99% of the World hates us...Heck, the French warned the Shrub not to go to Iraq; they knew about the ensuing mess. As far as soccer goes, the Italians and Spaniards are so far, by far, the most racist fans; they are practically the only ones in Europe that openly jeer colored players with "monkey" sounds. Disgraceful.

10. Bad Cartoon characters. The U.S. has Superman, Batman, Spiderman; they have Pepe'LePew(skunk).

11. Their women don't shave their legs ,arm pits, nor do they trim (big bushes).

12. Sided with a country(Germany)that invaded them twice against a county(USA)that liberated them twice at the cost of thousands of lives in the recent vote in the U.N.

13. 80% of the population smoke like chimneys.

14. French poodles are the gayest dogs on the planet. Compare French Poodles to German Shepards, Irish Setters, English Sheep Dogs, Amerian Gray Wolf.

15. In the Show Grease, Frenchie is the most annoying of all the cast.

16. They don't speak English and have sylables in their language that sound like they have a chicken bone stuck in their throat.

17. Their words are not spelled even remotely close to the way they sound. Oui(we), Cest(say), adieu(a do),Chic(sheek),Faux(foe). You get the Idea.

18. They make the worst cars on the planet and the ugliest.(Citroen,Peugeot,Renault)

19. They like Jerry Lewis.

20. They stuck us with Vietnam.

21. Their Olympic skating judges cheat.

22. French Foreign Minister Dominique de Villepin and Jacque Chirac's defense of selling nuclear technology to Saddam Hussein.

23. Monica Lewinsky wore a beret.

24. The French harbored admitted murderer Ira Einhorn, because the US has the death penalty.

Different people of various nationalities might dislike a bunch of various countries for several reasons that might be political, social or economic. Someone said France didn't support our (American) case in the UN for the Iraq war--- The French say why shall we? ... and then those feelings become mutual. This thing is general and personal (i.e. you might go for a trip to say Austria and you have a terrible event there and you come back and say I dislike the Austrians - for instance).
In general, the French see themselves as a civilized powerful nation that doesn't have to succumb to anyone's wishes, now that's a reason to be disliked in certain parts of the world,right?

im italian and was going for italy yesterday in the world cup. But, i dont hate the french at all. People steriotype french to be rude but then again every country has their own sterio-type. I notice people bring up history alot in this post too but whats history is history and people shouldn't hold on to that, if they do its there loss and looks like they are the arrogant ones. rite?

I think badcompany_78 is right , it's involved in Politic , most recently was French reject to join us in the Iraq's war . Many of us here in the States don't like them for that, cause we felt we did sacrifice so much to help them back in WW2 , and they back down when we need their help .

Anyway, I'm not a politic guy, so leave it at that .


I don't like their Team , but I like a few players from France .

They have been at odds with England since the beginning of time.
