This could be due to many things including hormonal imbalance, thyroid, polyp, cyst, stress, weight gain/loss, medications, illness, infection, amongst other reasons. The only way to know for sure would be to see your doctor for an exam and testing.

Irregular menses (periods) can be normal for younger women as well as older women.Hormonal changes can be unpredictable for many reasons even stress. Birth control methods sometimes interfere with the flow. You can have it investigated if it becomes bothersome or accompanied by other symptoms such as increased pain, clotting. This by no means a place for medical advise.Use your good judgment. I hope this helped. Have a great day.

are you taking birth control? normally B.C can shorten the # of days on your period. Also if you have sex more often OR alot less it can also affect the days & how often you have it. Although the B.C is a safer way to go, that happened to me and all it was that I needed to change my B.C my body was too used to the old ones and was confusing it.

It could mean that your hormones are messing up. This happened to me when i was on one birth control and i told my doc and she said i need more progesterian or something like that so she gave me a stronger pill and it helped.

Not everyone has a regular cycle. Your hormones could be off. Are you on the pill? If not, I recommend it. They will balance you and you'll have a fairly regular cycle.
