I would consider Portugal and Ukraine as pleasant surprizes. The Ukranians did what they had to go to the final phase and yes, they faced the Swiss who are not exactly a powerhouse, but a quarterfinal is not so bad for a first World Cup appearance, huh? Most would say that Portugal played on 'steroids' during the Euro 2002 because they were the host nation, but they silenced a few critics this time arround. As for the favorites that didn't make it? The Czechs - please..... I lost so much money on that game against Ghana who turned up to be not a bad team themselves.

World Cup Rocks! Had plenty of good surprises, as well as bad ones. I personally was smitten by play of Ghana. I loved them. My fav managed to stay at the top, like Italy, France and Germany. I was hoping for different order of 'em thought..:)

Soccer is the most real sport. no heavy equipment and protection, no sticks, no helmets... just a bunch of talented men and a ball. its a sport where skill is important. i want to see a basketball player play soccer... he'd collapse before half time. thats not to put basketball down but soccer is one of the greatest sports and its a gentleman's game...
