I say kill all the villagers, rob them and take over. Make sure they are all burned and dead unless you can get them to join you so you can have them attack the heroes and do all the dirty work for you.
However, if there are some wimpy heroes or you are truly powerful - well heck then destroy the heroes! Destroy. Kill. Mame. Decapitate. Make them all suffer! Moooo ha ha ha ha haaaaaa.

Hunting Down Heroes is the best thing to do, but the best way to do that is attack a village and when the hero comes to save it you get him/her.

Better hunt down the heroes first, or they will save the villages and cause you all kinds of head aches later.

Attack villages, this should lure any heros too you, when they come, have totally insanly evil traps waiting for them. Keep them alive and torture them in front of the peasents of the next village you will ransack. hth
