mattapan: Bard's batting about .360 for us and is a nice replacement for Piazza. The only reason Mirabelli is in MLB is because he can catch the knuckleball. Edge Padres. Loretta is a good hitter but his best days are behind him and the Padres already had a young talent in Barfield. Cla Merideth is supposed to an up and coming pitcher. I'd say that the Red Sox will regret these trades in the future. But then again, I suppose the Red Sox will just buy whatever they need and don't really have to worry about the farm system. Red Sox farm system = other teams.

The Red Sox already traded Doug Mirabelli for Mark Loretta, an Allstar this year, and then traded to get Doug Mirabelli back for a backup catcher, named Bard. As a net result, the Red Sox have Loretta and Mirabelli and the Padres have Bard and the ever-frightening Cla Meredith. Do you really think Kevin Towers is taking Theo's calls anymore?

Thanks for the reply Rocco: You are right to a point. Yes Cla Meredith has promise, and yes, they traded away Fred Sanchex to the Pirates and Hanley Ramirez to the Marlins, but the Red Sox have Jon Lester (SP), Manny DelCarmen (setup), Craig Hansen (setup) and Jon Papelbon (closer, 26 saves, 3 blown saves, .56 ERA--can I get an "Oh, Doctor"?) all home grown new arrivals. Red Sox -- Padres World Series would be great. Remote, but great. Also, as you pointed out, Doug Mirabelli can catch Tim Wakefield's knuckleball and Tim Wakefield is an important part of the Red Sox rotation.

April 1st is way extra relaxing even as the tricks are achievable, yet people continually attempt too problematic. Over-the-excellent isn't almost so seductive; it must be credible. Pujols indicators ten year, $285M contract -- see, this may be good. people want to study Pujols getting re-signed by using the Cardinals (although he's not a free agent till after 2011), he receives an excellent deal, and this may excellent ARod's blockbuster in words of complete certain money. Toss in some tempting incentives (an 11th season that would vest at $35M; some style of bonus for putting the franchise hits or HR information) and the excitement will be electric powered.

The Padres?? Don't they play somewhere on the West Coast? In the National League?? The Red Sox would never compete with them unless the Padres won the NL pennant, and that is highly unlikely;y this year or in the foreseeable future.

Have to call them as I see them.

Why would they want to compete with the Padres?

Kevin and Theo will continue to make trades that help both teams forever.

They don't need to compete with anyone because they are already the BEST!
