Yes.
There is a small problem though. If you attend church regularly then your beliefs will be influenced by that church's doctrine. For example, if you went to a Roman Catholic Church then you would have to accept they worship of Mary, if you went to a Baptist Church you would have to accept that worship of Mary is not allowed.
This is why it is important to be reading your Bible regularly, so you can balance church doctrine with what your read in the Bible.
As a general rule, most churches do try to justify their doctrine from scripture.
However, if your not comfortable with some aspect of doctrine then you should either research it to find out why they do whatever, or you should consider changing church.

To me being Christian is to believe and live according to the teachings of God and Jesus. These teachings are in the Bible, which if you have read, is not that easy to interpret. There is where religions come in: they attempt to explain and interpret His teachings, and then communicate this knowledge to the people that attend Church. Chuches are useful in that sense. They already have studied and interpreted what is on the Bible so that hopefully they can teach people to live according to Jesus teachings.
There is no doubt that differences between religions come from fundamental differences in how they interpret His word. You certainly can attempt to be a Christian without choosing a given religion, but that would leave you to interpret the Bible yourself.

Yes! There are plenty of Christian churches that refuse denominations.

I would rather introduce myself as a Christian instead of a Presbyterian. I am loyal to Christ, not the Presbytery! :)

sure. but even better than that, have beliefs. you don't need a religion or even a label to have beliefs. just live how you feel good living and be happy and be comfortable and pray to who ever you want and be confident in that. you can go to chuch and everything or not but just do whats good for you.

I don't know, but I'm giving it a shot. It's tough. Each sect has it's own rules, so you pretty much have to worship on your own.
