There are various different answers to this question and what matters is how the question is written.
In mathematics, if there are no brackets in an equation, you should do multiplication before you do addition so
60 + 1 x 2 +9 = x
becomes
60 + 2 + 9 = x
which of course equals 71.
However, there are various ways that brackets can be introduced to the equation to change the result as brackets mean that the bracketed section of the equation should be calculated first.
So, just three examples are :
(60 + 1) x 2 + 9 = x which becomes 61 x 2 +9 = 113
60 + 1 x (2 + 9) = x which becomes 60 + 18 = 78
(60 + 1) x (2+9) = x which becomes 61 x 18 = 1098
Finally, if this is read out to you with pauses between in each section in which to do the calcuation, it is fairly safe to assume, unless they are deliberately trying to trick you, that the reader means (60 +1) x2 +9 = 131.

i will answer it with two different answers
1) If i am answering it by my mind (step by step),
therfore u mean 60+1*2+9 = 131
2) If i am answering it by using a computer (or calculator)
therfore u mean 60+1*2+9 = 71
i will explain u what is the difference between the two answers
- answer number 1:
here i used a (step by step) way to solve that question
(60)+(1)*(2)+(9) = (61)*(2)+(9) = (122)+(9) = 131
- answer number 2:
here the computer (or calculator) was programmed to do some mathematical processes before other processes
the programming allow the computer (or calculator) do the multiplication process first then do the addition process (by moving forward in the equation), therfore
60+1*2+9 = 60+(1*2)+9 = 60+2+9 = 62+9 = 71
i hope u got ur point from my explanation & i hope its the right answer

Always do multiplication before addition...
sixty plus one times two plus nine = 60+1x2+9 = 60+2+9 = 71
So your WORD answer is seventy-one.
