If my child wanted to join and explained why he or she wanted to I would understand what they would want so long as they were aware of the consequences of their decisions. What I mean by that is that are they aware of the challenges they're going to be facing by being a part of the military. I think the decision to join is a noble and honorable decision and should be met with respect if it's decided upon.

I would allow my child to join the military at 17 if that is what he or she really wanted to do. I would think it was a noble act of courage and a selfless act. It would be the most difficult thing I would have to consent to, but I am a firm believer that when I have kids (no kids as of right now) they should do what makes them happy (within reason obviously). Happiness is important and if they wanted to fight for our country, I would be incredibly proud.

If my child died fighting in a war of course I would not be content, but I would understand that he died fighting for our country's freedom and he or she could add their name to the list of our nation's heroes.

I would try to discourage any one from joining the military. Especially while Bush is Commander And Chief. Hasn't he already got enough Americans killed fighting for a bunch sand monkeys and oil?

I wouldn't let em join...period. There's no urgency for them to join right now, and there's plenty of military men/women already in. I would send them to college, and not to a community or junior college. I would make the kid go to a prominent 4 year school.

Yes, we all should do our part. I know liberals only want to live off the sweat of others, cuz their are friggin cowards underneath their big talk and excrement spreading.

This nation became great because of our armed forces, not because of the hot air of some of its cowardly citizens. I don't want my kids to become leftist punks like so many young people nowadays.

I did join the military at 17. Chances of being killed are remote.

How is it a parents choice for thier child to want to serve thier country and possibly die for the freedom of said country.
I'm thankful everyday for those who give thier lives for freedom, such is the reason why i'm enlisting, also to get an education.

I would never let my child join the military at any age.I don't agree with violence, or wars, or the idea of my child killing another child, or being killed by another child.

well its there decision and you have to respect that, they know that going into this stuff you can die and if your not content with their death and start all of this nonsense commotion then you're being very disrespectful to your child's decision
