Rear Window, North by Northwest, Vertigo, The Man Who Knew Too Much. All Hitchcock. All from the Fifties, his genius period. You will not get better suspense than these four movies. Ever.

Shattered was the best suspenseful movie I ever saw. I really liked "The others" too. I was shocked with the ending on both.

The Haunting. The original black and white version from the late 50's/early 60's. Don't let the age of the movie freak you out -- the movie will more than do that on its own.
(BTW, the 90's remake was a lame shadow of the original.)

Well, since The Others was on last night, that was a good twist of a ghost story. My favorite is the Usual Suspects, it was the absolutely most inventful ending.
