Whenever I am looking for the value of something old, I first check e-bay to see if someone is selling the same thing. My friend had an e-bay store for a while and people came in all the time with stuff they found while cleaning out their attics and thought they had a gold mine. A quick check on e-bay often revealed that they had a common item that everyone and their second cousin was auctioning off at bids starting at 1 cent. The second best place to look is at auction houses. They often employ experts who can tell you in seconds if you have something worth their time. Remember that auction houses are different from antique dealers as they sell the item for you and take a percentage. A dealer wants to give you a couple of dollars for something, then turn around and sell it for a few thousand. Don't get ripped off. Ask around, and check on line too. Good luck. I hope you hit the jackpot.
