Looks like that could be a sign of hydronephrosis. Here is some information on the condition: http://www.ucsfhealth.org/childrens/medical_services/urology/hnephrosis/index.html

Did the doctor mention if the baby's bladder could be seen on the ultra sound or if there was low amniotic fluid. Im just guessing that if the kidneys are large, the may not be processing urine. Urine is needed to make the amniotic fluid. But if the doctor did not bring anything up, you shouldnt worry. Im sure you will have many more appts. to keep a check on them. best wishes

It is normal in some babies for the kidneys to be larger then normal. Sometimes they swell before they are born. After birth they should return to a normal size. If your doctor isn't worried about it, then it's probably fine.

A Doctor once told me, "Not everyones face looks the same, neither do their insides." Don't worry, if your doctor was than they should be explaining it better to you.
