I go to my chiropractor more than a doctor. I've been seeing a chiropractor for almost 20 years. I believe that's why I don't need to see a doctor very often.
Chiropractor's are great for muscle, tendon or bone-related injuries or aches. He does wonders for my neck. He's also working on my shoulder which I injured lifting weights. When my knee acts up and feels like it's out of place he pops it right back the way it's supposed to be.
The problem is finding the right chiropractor. There are a lot out there that aren't that great. I usually have to try 3 or 4 before I find a good one.
If you go to a doctor for a muscle or bone ache or pain, they prescribe a pill until they realize it's not helping.

chiropractors have all the same training as a family physician, and in some sujects even more. Chiropractors are required to pass a 4 part national board for licensure this is @ 16 full days of testing. Chiropractors require 4 years of undergraduate college to be accepted to chiropractic school. And D.C.'s practice in primary health care roles this is especially true in rural or medically underserved areas. For example In my practice patients utilize for primary care and ask my oppinion as to weather they should see the M.D. If I feel it is a medical case I will immediately refer them for alleopathic care, but many problems can be treated with alternative thetapy and very sucessfully.
In my practice I have seen MANY mis diagnosed psatients from the medical community and have either helped them or got them help after first diagnosing their trouble weather it be cancer, aortic aneurysms fractures of the cervical spine etc. The difference between a D.C. and M.D. is that Md's perscribe medicine which is basically poisen or do surgery to cut out an organ they let disease by "keeping a eye on it" The Dc attempts to treat the cause of the disease either through adjustments, exercise nutritional therapy homeopathy or a myriad of other treatment protocals.
Chiropractors had to become excelent diagnostitions due to the fact that in the 1970's and 1980's we were not allowed to utilize testing of any sort, blood work,CT scans Mri's etc. Consequently we became expert a clinical diagnosis and listening to the patient. I hear people say that they tried a chiropractor and wasn't helped. My answer is that if you tried an MD and got no help would you go to another one? Chiropractic is not a belief system not a religion you don't have to believe it for it to work, as a matter of fact some of my best patients were the biggest sceptics to begin with. Chiropractic is not geared towards emergency care for that you need an ER. Chiropractic shines with chronic or ill defined disorders of every kind not just neuro musculo skeletal. Don't short change yourself you should see a good D C for many health problems not just orthopeadic trouble. I f he or she (30% women DC's) is good they will either tell you they think they can help you or not if not they should offer to find you the best place to go for help. A last note of all the healthcarte professionals the malpractice insurance for the chiropractor is the lowest premium. That in of itself should say somthing about the safety of thr care.
p.s. If you are planning on seeing a DC you should tell your Md if you feel it is necessary but don't put much stock in his answer as it is like asking the fox to guard the hen house. Ask if he knows or has professional relations with any Dc's and if not why? If he has some defensive answer you know he is threatend and really knows nothing except AMA propaganda he has been fed.
The young mD'sa are more openminded, actually going to seminars taught by DC's to learn manipulation in a WEEKEND SO ON MONDAY THEY CAN TELL YOU THAT THERE IS NO NEED TO SEE A CHIRO BECAUSE THEY NOW DO IT IN THEIR OFFICE !! beware It takes a DC 5 years of continual practice in school before being released on the public, who do you trust more? You wouldn't let a DC take out your appendix even though I probably could in a pinch you are much better and safer with a surgeon so there is no difference here.

Chiropractors are good for relief of some problems caused by spinal misalignment. However, the muscles in your back will pull your spine out of misalignment which is why Chiropractors usually ask for multiple visits. Since the muscles are sometimes the problems, often times getting a vigorous massage will get you the same result.

It really depends on the problem. Both have merit. As a rule-of-thumb, I'd start with a doctor, especially with a NEW problem. Once it is evaluated, by all means, consider a chiropractor as an adjunct to the doctor's therapy, especially if it musculoskeletal in nature.

The funny thing about doctors nowadays is that they all tend to tell you the same thing from a textbook. The funny thing about chiropractors nowadays is that they're in competition, tell you different things and like to badmouth each other. But they do a good job most of the time.

For pain relief of aching muscles, go to a chiropractor. For alignment, go to a chiropractor.
When you no longer get releif, you may need a surgeon. I went to a chiropractor for 10 years, but I finally needed a hip replacement.

chiropractors and doctors are completly diffent...a regular doctor will almost always tell you that chiropractors are bad and that they will hurt you..
they are two diffent approaches to medicine...
I dont think that either one has any right to say anything about the other
