Ok, I am a Mac owner, got it about a year ago, after having PCs for many years.
There is a reason I changed, stability, I no longer get the blue screen of death, I no longer get hung up and can't even power off, I no longer worry about viruses, if I have a problem and need help, I go to the Apple store where I talk to an English speaking person, I do not sit on the phone waiting to talk to someone I can't understand. Apple support is incredible!!
What has changed since last year - MACTEL. Oh yes, the beautiful OS X operating system is still there, with all of it's wonderful tools, the dashboard and Sherlock and GarageBand and iPhoto. And now, there is Bootcamp, you can install a Windows OS on your Mac and for those few programs that don't run on the Mac you can run in window on your Mac.
So for those rare times you need a program that has not been written for the MAC you can run it on Windows, the rest of the time, you can run with OS X.
Buying a new computer at this time is a no brainer- buy a MAC.

Thats harder to answer than it would have been last year. Before, the main advantage of the PC was the enormous plethora of available software compared to the relatively measely assortment for the Mac. Now however, since the Mac can run Windows (at least the new ones), the major advantages are Price and customizeability. PCs can be customized to use any of tens of thousands of available components, mac are what you buy is what you get machines. They are also majorly overpriced. Some filks just become Mac fanboys so they can say they are. I tend to laugh at them when they do that. Some of them like to rub PC users nose in the fact that they don't have macs. When they do that to me, I just respond. Okay so you spent three times as much for a system you can't really customize or upgrade very much... And my $900 Custom built (I always build my own.) PC, will run rings around their $3000 Macs.

If you are a gamer and love big graphic games, then you must have a PC to enjoy it all. Apple has a lot going for it that is better than PC, but not for playing games. PC beats Apple hands down when it comes to games.

Most of the software you would want to use is compatable with the PC and not the Mac. That is the selling point for me personally.

This is mainly a choice of opinion, mac and pc's have their advantages and disadvangtes you just have to chose. If you want to know my opinon it is; Pc is better than mac because; pc isalot easier to use if your a begginer or expert. Mac is good because of it virus protection, but what is hte purpose of virus portection if it has bad internet!

Also you have to remember that Mac usually costs more than PC. And with the speed that technology advances, it is not too smart to put too much money on one computer.
