When it comes to cars, guys know their stuff. So here is my question--which would you prefer, if you could buy any car (within reason) on the market (I'm talking under 30 grand) would you prefer a foreign or domestic car?
(I do realize lots of foreign cars area basically 'domestic' these days---Toyota being one of them)
If you want, tell me specifically what car you would like and what you know about it.

Though I'm not such a fan of Dodge (pre-German).....the Dodge Charger looks so...powerful. (and the Challanger)
Who needs class and style when you're driving a beast?
Though I would normally prefer a foreign car

I personally prefer imports. They last longer, they ride better, perform better and are easier and less frustrating to fix when they break.

Best cars these days have to be:
Subaru Impreza WRX Sti
Mitsubishi Lancer Evo
Nissan 350Z/Infinity G35 Coupe
Honda S2000 Roadster

They all look and perform great and can all be found gently used under 30k. (except maybe the G35)

I'd also take an new Legacy 2.5gt before anything else. Sweet, sweet car.

Hoping the new Challenger will stay under $30k & be equipped with a 5.7 Hemi & a 5- or 6-speed manual tranny. From what I know, it's a retro design off the '70 model, only with cleaner lines.

If not, then I could probably get a decent Charger R/T('69 or '71) for under $30k & in good running condition off eBay. It'd probably be a 440 instead of a 426 Hemi & hopefully a 4-speed tranny. Just pure American Muscle when all that counted was horsepower & torque, & gas was 25 cents a gallon. ;-)

I prefer foreign. I drive a 2003 Toyota Camry and it's a very smooth ride, reliable, spacious, fuel-efficient, and has a good engine.

Domestic cars are behind the times, Domestic companies, like Ford and GM, just NOW seem to value the importance of fuel efficiency in America...(u notice their commercials?) when foreign companies, like VW, Honda, and Toyota, have consistently provided a great number of fuel efficient vehicles in their fleet for the past two decades. Anyway, just an observation of how desperate domestic companies have become...

I'm waiting for the new Camaro to come out, within the next couple of years. There should be one or two models under 30 grand. If I didn't get that, I'd get a Mustang GT or Dodge Challenger. The dodge would probably be too expensive, though.

I'm a girl but I love cars especially Mustangs. But, right now me and my husband have a 2004 Hyundai Elantra. It's the best car i've ever had. It doesn't use a lot of gas and is great for traveling. We haven't had any mechanical problems with it at all. And Hyundai also has a 10,000 mile/10 year warranty. People have told me that once the car hits 50,000 miles it will break down and everything will need repairing. But that's a lie. Even if it does break down at 50,000 miles the warranty is still in effect. My dream car is a 1970 Boss (mustang)

I would definitely purchase a foreign car..actually i just did a few weeks ago haha. Why foreign? Because foreign cars is proven to be made better, last longer, better on gas, more reliable especially if you don't have tons of money to blow and you want to purchase. If you talk price then domestic is definitely cheaper because of the 200 rebates and discounts etc, foreign cars definitely holds up. PLUS not to mention that foreign cars have WAY better resale value then domestic cars for a fact.

under 30 grand? i would def say stick with the japanese cars. great reliabilty, performance for a good price. you get a lot of car for the money and they last forever. under 30k i would go honda (prob accord) without thinking twice. VWs are nice for under 30k, but don't come close for reliability and features for the same price. I would definitely stay away from the traditional american makes (ford, GM, etc...) they are just not built to the same standards.

Any car under $30k?

I'd go with either a v6 Toyota Rav4 or v6 Camry. 268 hp, flawless engineering, 30 mpg, outstanding resale value. I just don't know which one I'd get, but I'd be happy with either one of them.

Pontiac Bonneville. I am a GM guy and I really like the Bonneville. I am not much for the foreign makes, unless they are the sports cars or luxury.
