He could have said nothing, strung you along and allowed you to find out the hard way. At a young age, neither of you should be tied down to a commitment. There are too many things in life to experience and he's basically chosen to gain those experiences.
Maybe he thinks you won't be happy if you aren't the priority in his life and he doesn't want the hassles of always leaving for either of you. I'd say, he's got a pretty good grip on reality and is just being honest with you. He may still feel the same, but at this point in his life he doesn't want responsibility for your happiness. Someday your paths may meet again when the time is right and you can pursue this again.
A Big reason young relationships and marriages break up is because someone feels they missed out on things young people normally experience. Get them out of your system now so when the time comes to settle down, there are no regrets. If you care, wish him well and ask him to share occasionally how it's going. The go find your own new experiences also.

No it's not a good reason to break up. If you really like the guy tell him what you think about him breaking up with you just because you won't be able to spend as much time with him.

If he really likes you then he should talk to you about it first instead of instantly breaking up with you. Then he should see how many days a week he has to practice with the band first. Maybe you will be fine with seeing him just twice a week or so.

You're obviously hurting... but, honestly, if you really like this guy think about his feelings too. Breaking up with you can't be easy for him either (no matter what his reasons are). You might as well talk to him about what you've heard and tell him you completely understand. Head up, shoulders back... all that old fashion stuff. Remember, you can still be good friends. And best of all you're now you're free to hang out with your gal friends (think shopping, movies, lunches, girl talk, etc. etc.) and flirt with other guys!

no thats not a good reason, if he breaks up with you because he can't see you he just likes you for your looks .You can still have a relationship with him and see him after band even if it is for like 10 min at least you get to see him. You can also talk on the phone and he could lovve you for your personality over the phone!

I've dated someone that was in a band before and yeah it does take up all their time. Ask him if you can go to his practice. Support the band. He might be using this as an excuse.

tell him it is mutual, that you were going to break up with him anyway, you know what they say about band people! then walk away leaving him stunned instead of you hurt!

Let him know that you very much value his sense of Trust and his sense of People and that you will always be here for him , no matter what happens.
Let him know that you do care about him alot and that you mean the world to him.
