I'm not a fan of generalisations or sweeping statements (which I call sweepments). So no I don't think anyone should generalise by saying things like "I don't like the English" because it's a ridiculous thing to say when you think about how many cultures now make England what it is. For the record, I am Scottish but I lived in England for ten years and I have come to the conclusion that a **** is a **** no matter where it's from!

Can't stand them in general, but the Welsh take a 10 on the lack of common sense.
Lol Little Miss HRT is back (Celtic_Princess down there) init?
I'm Scottish not English you Welsh numskull. You assumed I was English, because you assumed that the English can't stand the Welsh. I just said you were all thick, didn't say I hated the Welsh. But then you can't tell the difference can you 'cos you are so THICK!!!!!

I have nothing against the Engish people themselves. I only hate the term Britain (mainly by Americans) being referred to as England. There are 3 other nations in the UK you know! With regard to sporting loyalties, many English are amazed we wouldnt support them in the World Cup, but if it were the other way around, and Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland were in the World Cup, & England weren't, would you see many English supporting Wales or Scotland or Northern Ireland - I very much doubt it.

Its not the english that are the problem it is the english press. If they said the same things about islam as they say about scots they woudl incite riots and have the racial equality people knocking at thier door.
I read an article int he english press the other day describing scots as thisck and coming from a "call centre economy" down to england to take up jobs created by the "clever english".. what is that about. They have obviously never been to scotland and seen the economy up there.
They said that scots have more per head "donated" by the english tax payer...what they didnt mention that as an independent country Scotland, with its oil wealth would be in the top 5 small rich countries int he world.
Rant over... the english are OK but get them to tell their press to shut the f*** up!

I'm an American (please don't boo me) and I love the English. Then again, I also think the Scottish, Welsh, and Irish are cool.
I think that familiarity breeds contempt. When you're forced to be constantly "near" someone, you just naturally resent them a bit, even if there's nothing really wrong with them. We get that way about Canada sometimes. Mexico is currently a whole different story.

So there MUST be something about ye! re the second part of yr query: I have noticed this, for sure, but don't really know why it is so! Take care and good luck with those answers!

Ohhh.....BIG question, my answer is, no, I dont like them, but I dont have any legitimate reason not to. I am Scottish and feel I am closer to the Irish people, even though I have been to England many times and never to Ireland.
I think it may be that I dont like Royalists (which i believe most English people are), and consider myself to be more republican than English people, but maybe its justin my blood or up-bringing....you have made me think!!
I have many family members who live in England, and even some who were born there and of course, I like them!!
