Good for greedy Corporations and the Neo-Con movement. Bad for working Americans. The Government gives tax incentives that encourage U.S. companies to close down their U.S. operations and relocate them to foreign countries. When Governments and Company's share equal power we lose our democracy and become a Fascist country.
The "free trade" ideology of the U.S. government is very anti-middle class, anti-worker, anti-environment, and anti-government revenues. It pits America's high paid, high benefit workers against low paid, low benefit workers around the globe, and it exploits much lower environmental regulations in poor foreign countries.
Bush and his Neo-Con cronies are the enemies of the environment, the middle class, and our democracy and they must be stopped and held accountable.

You all can Blame Clinton all you want. However, This Administration has done nothing to change Nafta...as a matter of fact George Bush gave us Cafta to make things even worse!

How can the USA compete with countries that do not have minimum wage laws, child labor laws, environmental protections and human rights. Of course they will be able to produce items more inexpensively.
I say, tax the heck out of imports from countries like this and use the funds specifically to modernize American industry and educate the population with the skills needed for the 21st century.
It won't be easy...nobody wants to pay $600 for a DVD player. But what good is a cheap product if you don't have the money to buy it because your job has been exported to Mexico, or China, or India?
I am aware that NAFTA was instituted, in part, to help developing countries. But there has to be far stricter guidelines on acceptable conditions and pricing.
I believe that, given a level playing field, America can produce better and less expensive products than any country in the world.

Bad. All the good has drowned in the ocean of bad. The foreigners do not have to meet American standards for safety in factories, or in transporting the goods to our country. This costs a lot in our own insurance premiums, let alone the cost in jobs lost.

NAFTA is a disaster for the people of the US. It was negotiated by George H.W.Bush, but went into effect after he was out of office. Not only that, but from what I can see it has not done much for the people of Mexico either. Clinton should have known better then to let that go through.

Easy.

NAFTA = Good for rich people. (The owner of the factory that your dad used to work at is an example)

NAFTA = Bad for poor/middle income people. (Ask your dad)

Can it really be this simple? Yup.
