You may be suffering from a lack of vitamins. Try taking extra ginko and potassium vitamin supplements (you may want to consult your doctor first.) Or if you really like bannanas eat a lot of those (they are loaded with potassium). Do some research on webmd.com It is a good source and you may find out that have a more serious problem...restless leg syndrome, DVT, ect. Next time you get a cramp sit up straight and pull your toes toward your knees until it goes away. Becareful about rubbing cramps especially if you are prone to blood clots...you could dislodge the the clot and then you would have a serious problem.

It could be you are just dehydrated. You may need to drink more water during the day, even force yourself to drink more. I've also heard a shortage of potassium can cause leg cramps, and adding bananas to your diet will help. I get them once in awhile, usually due to dehydration. If those suggestions don't help, you may need to have a checkup to ensure it is not a sign of something bad. I'm hoping its just the water or banana fix though.

More water and potassium. Also, take a hand towel and with the hottest water your legs can stand, dip the towel in the hot water, wring it out and wrap it around you legs. It hels to relax the muscles. I have to do this when my legs cramp up.

I've heard of people having success defeating cramps by drinking 8 oz of tonic water a day. Quinine content.

There are medications that can help...tell you doctor about this...it can be a sign of a serious problem. Seriously.

Holistically I understand a warm bath before bed, calcium + Vitamin D, and Magnesium supplements may help. DO SEE YOUR DOCTOR, though. Soon.

Good Luck!

Yes, Phoenix is right. Potassium deficiancy. You should see the doctor, though; sometimes there is an underlying medical reason that could be more serious. I work in a medical clinic. Let your doctor know.
