the reason is that when the italians formed their team, italy was a monarchy and to honor their king, vittorio emanuele II, they wore blue, which is the color of the house of savoy.
same reason why the dutch wear orange, they honor their queen from the house of oranje.

the blue is a traditional colour of the italian national team ... I think you should look a little bit in the history of footbal ... why do germans had also white uniforms ... the coulour of the uniform doesn't have to be related to the national colours of a country .... were did you got that ideea from ?
