Most of the time, President Bush speaks as if he is still a fraternity boy, very laid back and casual. This is great in that it shows that he is human, he is just a man. However, there comes a time and a place when one needs to speak eloquently, to show the planet that he is the leader of the biggest country in the world.

If you watch his speeches he has a "tick". It look like he has to reset his lower jaw. It reminds me of "returning" a typerwritter, if you're old enough to remember those. Anyway I think his jaw "resetting tick" makes him pause. I don't think it's for effect at all.

I think he has a "tick, or a quirk or a bad habit" of doing this. It seems to get worse when he's reading from paper instead of looking straight head. It's been awhile since I've seen a speech so that last part could be the other way around.

I took a class one time about speeches. Ronald Reagan was one of the best speakers we've had, but another Cons and myself (both of us members of the College Republicans), read his speeches and were embarrassed! He used the word "I" so many times it was amazing to us!

What I'm trying to say is that any time any president speaks, they sound long-winded. If you don't like the man, you are not going to like anything about him. It killed me to watch Clinton speak. He would say a few words and his lips would close. Say a few more words, and the lips would close. This was so distracting I didn't even hear his point.

So say what you want, the alternative would be to READ his speeches. You still won't like what you read... guaranteed!

If find it harder to listen to him if I'm also forcing myself to watch him. As for the speech cadence, it's normal. We're talking about an ordinary brain here, and one that has to remember all sorts of lies, and it must be getting complicated.

I dont have evidence of this but.. I heard he has a real hard time pronouncing words, so he has an ear piece in and someone is speaking to him and he is repeating it. Thats what the delay is, again I just heard this.. But it kinda makes sense to me...

Good question... It's something about the chopped and phrased way of speaking he has, like he pauses every few words for effect, when the effect seems to make him look stupid.

He sounds like he can't get to the point, and like he's afraid of using specifics. So its like he has nowhere to go, and spends a lot of time getting there.
