You shouldn't strain that hard or you'll get hemorrhoids, seriously. But you don't have to worry about the baby popping out - it doesn't work quite like that. But just in case get some stool softeners for the constipation.

Constipation cannot cause a miscarriage. To relieve constipation, you might want to try fiber each morning (by eating a bowl of cereal or just taking metamucil). I've found the stool softeners to have uncomfortable - and noisy - results!

Water and moderate exercise help, too. You don't want to push too hard on the toilet because it will increase your likelihood of getting hemmorhoids (basically varicose veins of the anus). Painful and itchy!

Pushing too hard can also cause varicose veins elsewhere, like in the vulva and buttocks. I have them right now with this pregnancy.

Please don't worry too much about miscarriage. I think every mother thinks about it, but don't let it overshadow the miracle of pregnancy and the hope that a new life brings. For the vast majority of miscarriages there is nothing the mother could have done to prevent it anyway.

God bless you!

It won't happen. A lot of women have asked me that. Your baby is nice and protected inside a sealed bag, and a sealed cervix. No amount of pushing will cause a miscarriage. It can cause hemroids though. There are things to do to help with constipation. If you want to know what they are, contact me and I'll tell you.

just dont ever push hard enough to cause damage to any part of yourself. If you find yourself really needing to push that hard you should just go to the doctor because that is NOT normal.

I don't know if it can cause a miscarriage, but it could DEFINATELY cause hemmoroids (sorry about the spelling). They are pretty common during pregnancy.

Stop straining and let it happen naturally. Drink some prune juice to get things moving.
