They sound like they're not broken in yet. Are you wearing padding? I highly suggest getting ouch pouches www.bunheads.com.
What you need to do is bend the shank a bit closest to the heel not the middle. When you're wearing the shoe you need to walk around high on demi pointe to loosen the shoe a bit.
You also need to do some barre work. Slowly roll through the shoes. Flat, demi, full pointe, demi, flat.
You need to squash the box a bit so your toes are able to move a bit. Don't break the box, but stand on it with a bit of pressure.
No matter what you do pointe ultimately sucks, just how much it sucks depends on your pain tolerance.
Good Luck

First, consult your teacher to make sure you're wearing the shoe that's right for your foot (shape, size, width, hardness, etc.) If there is nothing wrong with your shoe, then you're probably not standing correctly. Pull up! The better you learn to distribute your body weight, the better balance you'll have and the easier it'll be to stay on pointe. In other words, the less weight your tootsies have to lug around, the better for you and for your dancing.

This is what my dance teacher suggested that I do to get used to them and be able to stand in them...wear them around the house, but also run around the house in them so your feet can get used to it...you have to comfortable in your pointe shoes first before you can stand in them...try running!! It helped me!
