If you were able to maintain a warp field in a vacuum, you would remain normal, and the warp bubble would appear to have the beginnings of the elongation effect, like in a black hole. if no warp bubble is provided, you would go through some extent of elongation also, I believe once the speed of light is achieved there will be no mass increase at all.The vacuum in the warp bubble will counter the effects.

I believe that the object would change due to friction. I realize in most environments where light speed could feasibly be acheived this isnt a huge issue but the universe is filled with gases and passing through these would heat an object. Now, shields and craft materials all are left to be desired but other than that idea, i dont see why the physical rendering of the ship would actually change except for the above stated perspective of the ship.

Yes, its called length dilation and can be predicted through a very complicated series of mathematics. The increase in mass is due to the velocity of the object. As the object gets closer to the speed of light its takes more and more enegery to increase its acceleration which is why an object can never actually reach or go beyond the speed of light. It become infinity big (and small) and would take and infinite amount of energy to move it. Confusing stuff.

The physical mass will "seem" to SHORTEN and grow THICKER. However this is relative to a person standing outside and viewing it, the person inside the ship will notice no change.

Think of a bullet growing shorter and fatter, but if you were travelling exactly the same speed as the bullet you would see it was actually the same size.

you could't hit a button and "bounce" to mild p.c., like contained in the films. because a million. we do no longer have the skill to do it. 2. the prompt acceleration may kill you - thousands and thousands of G's. The acceleration may be sluggish, by technique of the time you purchased to mild p.c. you may be 10 billion miles from the solar. way previous the asteroid belt, even previous the Kuiper belt and the Oort cloud. Interstellar area has a lot less debris in it different wise we doesn't also be in a position to ascertain stars from the muddle. So, in interstellar area you may be extremely secure from colliding with some thing. yet another element is this, no remember how briskly you're going, in case you grew to change into on a flashlight the mild from the flash mild may go away it on the speed of light. In different words, radar may nevertheless artwork at detecting gadgets, and also you should carry out somewhat turning to circumvent them. As for friction dealing with an section with gasoline, you should use ablative tiles for protecting like the area commute makes use of on re-get top of entry to. i believe swifter than mild p.c. is organic technological information fiction.

From the outside the object appears to grow to infinite mass while concurrently shrinking toward infinity. From the inside everything will appear to be normal except that time has gone much slower when compared to the outside observer.

Normally friction would just incinerate you. But... if you were to travel in a vacuum... you could very well travel faster than the speed of light.

Light from certain sources can travel faster that the light that travels from the Sun. In fact, there have been some test work of sending particles to travel faster that the speed of light and with much success.

The physical dimensions change too. It is very counter intuitive. You have to just understand and trust the math to believe it, it is not something that will just feel right, no matter how familiar you are with it. And the math is NOT easy.

special relativity tells us that three things happen when we observe something traveling near lightspeed. they are time dilation, mass increase, and length contraction. the objects mass will appear to increase, but it's length in the direction of travel will also appear to shrink.

I don't think inertia has nothin to do with it. Inertia has to do with moving and momentum. I think.
