I am trying to use the audioscrobbler/last.fm setup, but I keep getting a 'handshaking failed' message. Someone told me that the problem might be my firewall.

I'm pretty sure that my firewall is McAfee Personal Firewall Plus (not very tech savvy).

The problem might be that your firewall is blocking the last.fm plug-in.

You will have to open your firewall, don't know which one is it, and choose to let the program access the Internet.

Most firewalls come with tutorials and help files to help do exactly that.

If you could tell me your firewall program then I can help you with the details.

what firewall are you using? open your firewall security center and look for entries related to audioscrobbler/last.fm and remove them, or then access the site again, when a message askes you if you want to allow or deny, select allow. This should tell your firewall that you are choosing to communicate with the site.

Another option is to turn off your firewall and see if you can access the site with it off.

And totally agree with the other entries, if you are trying to test your firewall go to www.grc.com and select shields up and let it scan your computer. It will tell you how protected you are with your firewall running. Excellent site.

Best to probe your firewall from the outside. Gibson Research has a great site for doing this. Try: http://www.grc.com/default.htm, and use ShieldsUp! and Probe-My-Ports.
