While you can't see exactly through it, leopard geckos have a thin enough membrane between their ear holes where you can definitely differentiate light and dark through the cavity.

you cant. you can attemp to look in their ear, but you will not actually see through to the other side. the brain is in the way, and also with the ear canal not being perfectly straight, it is impossible.
