The answer all depends on the school. In general, it can take anywhere from 3 to 5 years. And it depends on which route you want to go.

For instance, you could get a D.B.A. (Doctor or Business Administration), which is the next step up from an M.B.A. Or you could get a Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy) in a specific business field such as Marketing.

Or you could go for an Ed.D., which is similar to a Ph.D. but doesn't involve writing a thesis. This is what Bill Cosby has by the way.

All three of these (Ed.D., Ph.D., D.B.A.) allow you go be called doctor, but they carry different degrees of academic weight.

Pretty much forever. If you get out in 5 years, you're doing good, and most people don't stay longer than 6 actually.

I'm at Ohio State University, which is a pretty good program, but of course, Harvard or Pennsylvania would be the best. You might also consider Rochester, which is excellent. If you're not into those high-ranked schools, there are likely a lot of really good programs at lesser schools, but you have to do your research.
