If the defendant does not appear, they lose automatically, and also lose their right to appeal the judgement. If they are being sued for a monetary amount, the plaintiff will then be able to start collection procedings against them, including wage garnishment and the taking of funds from any bank accounts in the defendant's name. Liens can be placed against any property owed by the defendant.

These judgements and liens can be renewed over and over again, and they could remain for decades.

Unless they are represented by a lawyer who can show good cause,they lose!!! Peace.
