It is not specifically our involvement as a fighting force. Please read on:
"Lend-Lease was a major United States program 1940-1945 which enabled the United States to provide Britain, Russia, China and other Allied nations with vast amounts of war material (matériel). Unlike the loans of World War I, the transfers were gifts that were not to be repaid. It began in March 1941, nine months before the US officially entered the war in December of 1941. Lend-Lease came on the heels of Cash and Carry, following correspondence between Winston Churchill and Franklin Roosevelt on the economic status of Britain and their inability to pay for and transport materials as they once did. It ended soon after V-J Day, on September 2, 1945. This program was the first large step away from American isolationism and towards international involvement since the end of WWI."

Really? The debt has been paid has it? As you say, the Japanese attacked us, not the Germans. Before that, there was lend-lease where we GAVE you a third of our navy & every military thing we could make as fast as we could make it all on credit which was mostly wiped away after the war. Our first move after being attacked in the pacific was to retreat all the way to Australia while we pushed our military resources into Europe. We could have very easily made a seperate peace with Hitler before one troop went to that side of the world, but instead we chose to sacrifice territory & men in the Pacific so you could be free. Oh & it seems we did in fact send some troops to Europe ourselves, some several hundred thousand killed for YOUR freedom facing an enemy who never threatened us. Little matter of that first world war as well. Certainly it was the right thing to do & we are proud of our fight against that evil as we are proud against the modern fight against the evil of our own time.
But you've already repaid those debts have you? In what war before this did you come to our aid? In what war did you sacrifice hundreds of thousands of your men for our freedom or were you perhaps reclaiming your own imperial territories? Whether you like it or not, the UK & US are family forever. If you wish to be free of us completely than simply say so & build up your military, economic, & diplomatic capabilities so you can take care of yourselves w/o our help.

In addition to the lend lease program (previously mentioned) the USA also rebuilt Europe post WWII under the Marshal plan.
If you are referring to the steadfast support both the USA and the UK are providing each-other in Iraq. You should understand that the world is small. Peace in the Middle East and democracy in Iraq benefits all mankind...even uneducated socialist isolationists.
P.S. "japs?" Are you referring to the Japanese? Nice work offending everyone.

we have repaid the WW2 debt just recently (the money lent to us to re-build britain after that *** hitler bombed us)
but strangely the WW1 debt hasn't been paid and shows no sign of being repaid either
( i think a lot of countries have old debts that are forgotten about)
By the way if hitler had managed to invade england (which he didn't, contrary to some american perception) it would have meant america was next! So it was very much in your long term interest to help us with the invasion of nazi europe to help free it again. A japanese and german invasion on the U.S would have been very difficult to handle no? Which is why it was important for america to act 'swiftly' in defeating hitler. Of course you could have used more nuclear bombs and nuked berlin as well, but that wouldn't have been very nice really, killing more innocent people.

Not true! Do your homework first before you stick your other foot in your mouth!! The United States has never believed Great Britain has owed them anything. Actually if there were any two nations so tightly knit it's the USA and us. There was a great deal more going on prior to Pearl Harbor so do alittle research and you'll find a great friend in America.

The UK and US are brothers in arms. The US have launced a welcomed cultural invasion of the UK and now look on the high street and what do you see? McDonalds, KFC,Pepsi,Coke, amongst others. What do you watch on TV? Friends, Simpsons, Hollywood blockbusters. Theres no debt because now we look after each other. For example 4,000 UK troops in Afganistan to help the US in their fight against terrorism. So if anything the US owe the UK

I can't say that I blame a single Brit for despising the American govt. Hell I'm an American and I despise my govt. Just remember, there are alot of us over here that didn't support the war, and as far as I am concerned we don't "owe" each other a damned thing. That doesn't mean I don't think highly of England, just that the relationship between our countries has evolved (in my opinion) over the last two hundred years or so.

We still owe them for the 2nd World War. They lent us arms and tanks and stuff before they joined the war, which we agreed to pay them back for.
The USA wasn't involved with the war at that point, so they were neutrals like. But then Churchill persuaded them to help us. A guy called Teddy Roosevelt had to appeal to the Americans to give us this war machinery. He told America " if your neighbour asked to borrow your hose because his house was on fire, would you lend it to him?".
Anyway, according to the Treasury and Mr Brown, we should finally pay them off this year.
We may have paid them off sooner, but Mr Brown decided to sell most of this countries gold, and since then the value of Gold has doubled! Not the sharpest tac is he!

As for saying its all Blairs fault, you must be too young to remember the Thatcher - Reagen obscenity. Its a situation that goes back years and through successive govts, that not one you can pin on any one political party.
Just because we are allies doesn't mean we have to support them in every half arsed idea.
