I was thinking flower and teddy bear? is that too cheesy?

yes, bring a gift. maybe a book, or music, picture frame or a nice scented candle would be nice too

It's a guy.. don't give him flowers and a teddy bear. Both will end up in the garbage the minute you leave. If you have an old picutre of you two together, frame that and give it to him. Or bring him something from home that is unique to that place (if you two lived in the same place before, which I'm assuming since you're coming to Chicago to visit him). But skip the flowers and teddy bears. Guys don't want that.
