2 pieces of advice. First, use toner & moisturizer to help treat your skin. Almay's new toner & moisturizer are great. Olay Regenerist moisturizer is also great. Second, use some sort of foundation to cover up and even skin tone. It depends the level of coverage you want. If you want light/sheer coverage, try Almay's new Smart Shade. It's like a tinted moisturizer that automatically blends to match your own skin color. It has SPF 15, so that will help w/ skintone too/prevent it from getting worse. If you want more coverage, you have many options in the marketplace - you could try Clinique (ask at the counter to get the very best match for your skintype and perfect color match).
