The last Super Bowl (Super Bowl XL) was at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan between the AFC Championship Pittsburgh Steelers and the NFC Champions Seattle Seahawks and it was the first Super Bowl in the Midwest since Super Bowl XXVI was held in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

I could see Detroit hosting the Super Bowl again in my lifetime and I would like to see Super Bowl L (Super Bowl 50) at Ford Field but I think it will be a very long time until Detroit host the Super Bowl again and I think it will host the Super Bowl after Super Bowl LXXV (Super Bowl 75).

Probably. Super Bowl XVI was held in Pontiac, Michigan back in 1982. Super Bowl XL was held just 24 years later in Detroit.

sgoldperson, what snow storm do you write of? Detroit got an inch of snow. Michigan can easily handle 10 inches of snow - they keep the roads clear. Interestingly, if a warm weather area received an inch or two of snow, which occassionally happens, it would cripple the area.

And, what if the NFL had selected New Orleans as the host of Super Bowl XL? New Orleans has been the host of the Super Bowl NINE times, but, due to the WEATHER (Katrina), would not have been able to host Super Bowl XL. Detroit is in a very low risk area for natural disasters...almost zero chance of hurricanes, earthquakes, floods, forest fires, mudslides, etc., all problems plaguing other areas.

Sorry but I don't see it happening. Not unless the new Commish of the NFL changes the rules, which are set by the Sponsors basically. The problem isn't the city per se. I mean the city tried its best. The thing is other little problems. For instance ONLY ONE TUNNEL. Who the ____ dreamed that one up? Making both teams come in through the same tunnel is not a good thiing for the Superbowl, or for any game for that matter. On top of that we should go on about the other problems. What about that snow storm on what the Saturday before the game? Yeah out of Detroits hands BUT that is what they have to contend with. The city does the best to promote itself and win that bid BUT I don't think they will get the chance again. That snowstorm basically killed them. Also with all the security that is used now having a port city like that is not too likely.

Unless I die young, yes Detroit will have another Super Bowl. Probably in about 12-17 years from now.

I just wish the NFL would start to allow places such as Buffalo, New England, New York and other areas that have outdoor stadiums in cold climates to host the SB.

Probably not. The Lions received the SB because they built Ford Field. Its kinda like the whole KC deal now. KC can get the SB if they build a roof over Arrowhead. The NFL loves warm weather cities, if its a pick between SD and Detroit, guess where they are going?
