If your window is 30" wide then your header needs to be 33" wide. (Add three inches to opening size.) This allows one jack stud under each side of the header. You would then nail a full length stud directly to the sides of the and also the jack studs under the header. When you get 8' or above I like to double the jacks so I add 6".

first if this is a real set of blue prints there will be a door and window schedule it will tell you the size window and rough opening. If this is just something from a home-center you should contact the window company and ask for a rough opening.
The headers are 3" larger than the opening. you first put a full length stud on each side of opening leaving the opening three inches larger then you put the jack studs to the window height, headers go on top of jack studs and cripples go on top of the header to the top plate.

hope this helps you good luck

Blueprints and windows must match!
Header is cut width of the rough opening plus the width of the cripples.
