Think of all your interests & ask yourself if any of those could be expanded into a business. Just keep in mind...what's your expertise? What are your interests? What could you imagine yourself doing?
By researching the prospect of starting your own business -- what it entails, what you need to know, helpful hints, etc -- you'll feel better prepared to take that plunge.
I found some book titles that are relevant to your specific question:
* 101 Internet Businesses You Can Start from Home by Susan Sweeney
* The Best Home Businesses for the 21st Century by Paul Edwards
* Selling Online: How to Become a Successful E-Commerce Merchant by Jim Carroll

I followed a link from someone else on here and it led me to a website called Cash Crate. You won't make a fortune doing this, but you can easily make maybe $10-20 a week (great for pocket change!) without putting out any money. Basically they show you free/trial offers and surveys, and they tell you upfront what the payout is for doing the survey or viewing the ad, and the money accumulates in your account. Once you reach $5 (or more, it's up to you), you can receive your payout either by check in the mail, or gift certificates. I thought it would be a waste of time, but now that I've done it for a while, it's a pretty easy way to make some extra bucks. Here is the website:

Selling advertisements, writing newsletters, website design, bookkeeping/accounting, writing copy (for marketing brochures), writing grant proposals for non-profit organizations, selling on EBay (if you have a way to get around to pick up/drop off), being a writer/cartoonist, etc. There are books you can buy that provide ideas for businesses that can be started at home for little or no cost; some require some skills or training and others can be done by just being organized and a go-getter.

I spend about a 1/2 hour a night doing this and I will post a link below that helped me out a lot...
I sell items on the Internet. I started out by selling extra items that I had at home, now I go to yard sales, check out discount bins at stores, etc and resell them for a profit on the net.
I also have my own blog and a website. This is a great form of "passive stream of income" because the internet is open 24 hours a day and seven days a week...All I had to do was design the website properly and use the blog to bring extra traffic to my website!
This is the easiest way (for me) to make extra money (believe it or not), I make pocket change by "reading emails. I just click on a email link and wait for a timer to expire, close the link and move onto the next email. I spend about a 1/2 hour a night doing this
I will post a link below that helped me out a lot...
Hopefully, you will find my answer helpful and profitable and if you have any question about what I going to share with you, or the link that I share with you please email me (just click on my "yahoo name)!!!

I am involved with a company that I am able to work as little or as much as I want. I am not required to keep any stock (unless I want to), the products are some of the best.
There is spa quality skin care,
weight management (and loss)
and nutritional supplements.
Prices are reasonable and affordable. If you are interested check out my web page, then contact me if you have any questions.

Have you considered eBay? You could sell items that you buy or sell for others (consignment).
Another thought is developing your own product and selling it. I recently met a guy that makes a full-time living selling a $29 ebook on-line.
