Your bank should have traveler's checks available. Another good option is Visa TravelMoney.

Please check it out: http://usa.visa.com/personal/cards/prepaid/visa_travel_money_faq.html?it=il|/personal/cards/prepaid/visa_travel_money.html|Frequently+Asked+Questions+about+the+Visa+TravelMoney+card

This is a better option. Good luck.

your local bank..
but dont buy alot of them...a few is ok for emergencys only...
when traveling to a foreign country...they look at travelers cheques as checks...they prefer money....
carry small bills, they never tend to have the correct change..go figure.
use your credit card as much as you can..you get a better exchange rate that way...

If you are not in Mexico (because you don't usually buy them in Mexico) ... you are better off using your ATM card in ATM machines for your cash.

A few TC's are OK for emergency but are not easily used in Mexico
