I would say that Materazzi said something which incensed Zidane to retaliate. This was obviously a ploy to upset the player, a real cheap trick. The referee had no alternative but to eject zidane from the game. I sincerely hope that whatever it was that passed between the players comes to light and FIFA acts accordingly.

Well i heard some allegations that materazzi called him a dirty terrorist, I do believe there is truth to this because of Zidane's Algerian background.

According to what I read a guy who lipreads Italian reckons that Materazzi called Zidane 'Baldy'.
