this sounds cheesy......but seriously.....sometimes people just need to be hugged.........

no really....I believe time is the best gift you can give to someone. Its priceless, and you might find that giving your time to someone makes all the difference, sharing moments of your life and their life together can even become a gift unto yourself as well. If you care about this person, let them know by reserving some of your time to devote to whatever they have in mind.

I'm a real art lover, so a bunch of this will be some fun stuff you make to capture memories...

A picture frame with the border being parts of pics. You'd have to copy the pictures so the ones you put on the picture frame wouldn't get ruined and the picture you put inside could be a special moment of some kind.

Get iTunes on your computer and download the person's fav. songs - 10 songs would be good. Each song costs 99 cents so with tax, they're about $1.07. Then, you burn the songs onto a CD and put a CD cover on it like a picture. Those kits cost $5 - $10 and you can get them at Garden Ridge.

If the gift is for your wife or a girl friend, you could get one of those folders w/ those stripes, beach colors you know. Girls would like colors: blue, green, orange, pink, w/e... Then, you gather up some pics or places you consider memorable and paste the pictures onto the folder. You could put lace around the pictures - girls like that and then you laminate it so it'll look good and put things you find memorable inside: notes, pics., etc.

Scrapbooking - this doesn't have to be hard and intense work... you put notes in the scrapbook where you wrote to each other or maybe write out some of your conversations and you find pictures on the internet that the person your giving the gift to finds interesting or goes w/ the conversation and order prints by sending them to a place like Walgreens through your computer and you can put a pic. you found on the web on each page.

Flowers - ask somebody at a flower shop to make you a bocquet of flowers and make them as a centerpiece for your table... If the person likes gardening, you could put them in a nice looking, small flower pot. Then, you write a poem and place it slightly under the flower pot or beside it and before y'all eat your meal, you read the poem to whoever this is...

If you aren't artistically inclined, go to this website:

Yahoo Photos

You can have them put a pic. on a mug. You could order flowers from a flower shop and put chocolat and flowers in the mug for a centerpiece.

That's all I can think of!

A flowering orchid and a magnifying glass to look at it. No way anyone would call you cheap!
