I have been on it for the past three-four years and never felt any side effects, neither gain weight, depression or anything else. I really like it.

I took a "baby sister" version of yasmin, and yeah, it made me depressed, and all sorts of nuts. Then I found out that birth control pills had similar effects on my sisters...and yet I have a co-worker that takes yasmin and says it makes her feel emotionally better.

Moral of the story- different people react to it differently, but if you have anyone that's genetically similar to you to ask (sisters, aunts, cousins) that would be a the best place to start to guess how you would react.

Birth control pills do not make you depressed.

They can have other side effects. You should read the package insert or speak to the doctor about them. For example, you could have spotted bleeding until your hormones adjust. Some women get bad headaches.. if something like that happens, you have to call the Dr. and he/she'll prescribe a different one.

yasmin is supposed to be the best pill you can take which doesnt make you depressed, get spots or increase your appetite.

You should talk to your Gyn about this. It all depends on your medical history.

Best wishes.
