It is hard to say. You could be experiencing braxton hicks.(cramps that get you ready for the actual thing...they are annoying, but are worth it.) Although, whenever something doesn't seem right you should talk to your doctor.
Good luck!

What you are experiencing is probably Braxton Hick Contractions. This is your body's natural way to prepare you for labor and delivery. It's to soon the have the baby now they have difficulty with the lungs still. So take it easy and make sure you are getting enough fluids. Your uterus is a muscle and if you become dehydrated it will contract. I know this because I ended up having to go to Children's hospital due to dehydration and I started contracting. Once I was hydrated the contractions stopped. Now when I have cramping and lower back pain I get something to drink and set down for a little while and start to feel better. Don't worry it won't be too much longer and it will be the real thing and there is no mistaking it. Trust me mother of three and one on the way in Sept. Set back and relax these are the last few weeks your hands will be empty. Congrats.

your baby might be dropping into position, this does not feel good but it is a good thing, time the cramping to see how far apart just in case,it might be braxton hicks, lay on your left side to help with the pain, and try a heating pad for your back.If they are less than 10 minutes apart call your ob office, they will want you to go in to get checked out.40 weeks is full term 34 is to early.Good luck mommy.

Could be! For me, it felt a lot worse than just cramping. I think the best way to tell is to time the cramps.

You could be experiencing braxton hicks. It's best to get advice from your doctor because if you are experiencing pre-term labor, this could be dangerous.
