why is it considered illegal to download songs or movies from the internet, but it is legal to record them from the radio, or from tv onto a vcr

little do you know, radio stations pay ascap and bmi, amongst other licensing firms, that commercial artists belong to, which doesn't actually make it legal to record from the radio, but is a fix or in essence a bandaid for artists. they don't make much money from radio airplay, but it's something, therefore acceptable. It isn't legal to download music from the internet because the songs still belong to someone who have a right to make money off the music which is a service or a product.

because no one would want to spend the money to buy the album if they can get it for free from the internet and then the musicians and there record companys dont get paid thats what its about money these people have billions of dollars and they just want more while everyone else just barely scrapes by to survive

because it takes money away from stars. i think it's a lame law how else are you suppose to download music to your ipod?
