My ex girlfriend (still love her too) said "Because they were born with them" and I think she's right.
It's like why they smell other dogs butts, because there was this massive party and all the dogs attending had to hang their butts up at the door and then suddenly a fire broke out and they had to rush out so just grabbed a random butt so now they're smelling each others to find their own.
