Yes, it's already happening. That said, it could be that the Earth itself may be able to make some atmospheric adjustments to counteract the warming. However, it is air pollution that is causing the warming, and if we continue to add more and more people, who will also want to drive cars, I don't think there's much the planet itself can do to overcome it. I also blame Hussein for setting the Kuwait oil fields on fire - you could see that black cloud from space -- who knows how much damage that did on a global scale. Once we run out of oil, maybe things will get better (for the planet, at least). The really bad news is that in 3 billion years the sun will start going through some pretty significant changes. When it finally grows into a Red Giant, the oceans of the earth will have boiled away and life will pretty much suck, although Mars may get quite warm and toasty.

if you haven't read it yet, Michael Crichton wrote a book called "State of Fear" the crux of the book is completely about global warming, and how governments and eco-terrorist groups use it to make money. He cites many sources in his research of the book, and It severely casts a doubt on whether global warming is anything we should consider as a valid threat, given the relatively short time that we have been on this earth.
In my opinion, global warming is not an issue that I need to be concerned with. However, as a responsible citizen, I feel it is my place to ensure that my government is doing everything within its power to keep the world safe from any threats, even from the climate if necessary. I know I may contradict myself, but basically, i let all the worrymongers do the worrying, and I sit back and get a tan. I will vote for presidents and congressmen that have the environment's best interests at heart.

global warming is already an issue. it is not something that is gonna happen...it is happening
You should go see "An Inconvenient Truth" Even if you don't believe in global warming, there is some undeniable evidence that there are climatic changes occurring on Earth
Global warming should not be a political issue. People need to understand that changes ARE occurring and these changes will affect everyone, regardless of political affiliation, religion, nationality, or anything else

There's always going to be something.
Thirty years ago we were going to have an new ice age (global cooling), suddenly it "seemed" the temps went up (around 1 degree), so now we have global warming. Actually, it is currently cooler that it was in the 1940s.
There are too many variables to say this is anything other than a normal cycle the earth puts itself through.
For a "novel" take try Michael Crichton's _State of Fear_.
Now let's see how many people think I'm nuts. ; )

Global warming seems to have much more to do with long period solar cycles than anything else.
Regardless of the debate over global warming, another ice age IS coming. We are simply between ice ages now. Hopefully, we will be generating enough waste heat when it comes, because if we're not, it's going to get really, really cold.

There is already global warming in action. This is evident from the amazon water and others drying up, drought and the Antartica (the coldest place on earth) where frozen ice is melting.

Please have a look around you, what do YOU see? Do you see More storms do you see that the Days are getting warmer and the Nights are geting Colder? if yes when you have a numerical scale..and for each possitive number you also add one negative...do the " averages " change?? if not...then look at our eco system, the " Average temperature does not seem to have changed Much, But the two extremes have... so what do you think drives the power of storms?? lets put it this way... you go for a roller coaster ride.. they have Not changed the Length of the ride but they have increassed the Height and they have also increassed the depth... so you have a greater max height and depth that the roller coaster...can travel... does that change you Net Speed gain?? let me know what you yourself have deduced ;-) have a Nice day Eagle

There already is global warming. It is evidenced in the overall increase in air and ocean temperatures, as well as the melting of the polar ice caps and the depletion of the ozone layer.

It is already happening over the last century (and a half).
The Earth's average near-surface atmospheric temperature rose 0.6 ± 0.2 degrees Celsius (1.1 ± 0.4 degrees Fahrenheit) in the 20th century.
Relative to the period 1860–1900, global temperatures on both land and sea have increased by 0.75 °C (1.4 °F), according to the instrumental temperature record.
