I traveled to Mexico by car about 2 weeks ago and was outraged when MANY businesses were flying the U.S. flag the Mexican flag and the Canadian flag all flying together. It is not right. We the people are a soviergn nation. We the people don't fly other soviergn nation's flags. If you do fly flags of other soviergn nations, then I am inclined to say the you are not part of "We the people."

President Bush has big plans for us. He wants to be one big country with Mexico and Canada. He believes in open borders. Get online, and look up NAFTA Super Highway. You won't believe it.

I'm in Texas where many places fly the six naitonal flags that have governed our territory. Other then that I care less. A mexican resteraunt flys a mexican flag, big deal. Some person of mexican heritage flys a mexican flag in their yard, okay, you been out in the country & seen people with confederate flags up for the same reason? Doesn't bother me. If a person is natural born or natualized then they are a US citizen & it really doesn't matter what you think about them. There was a time when people thought blacks shouldn't be citizens because their forefathers were imported as slaves. It didn't matter what those racist people thought, just like it doesn't matter what you think. Get over it.

Though I salute only one flag (U.S.A, stars and stripes all the way!), I don't find it offensive to see other flags flying on U.S. soil. If I did, I think I'd go nuts with the number of flags that do.

Perhaps it would be more appropriate to have other flags (such as the Canadian and Mexican flags) flying on shorter staffs than the U.S. flag (so as to signify importance) when on U.S. soil, but nonetheless, if someone flies the flag of their home country or a country they feel deserves an amount of respect deserving of the flying of its flag, provided that they are not obviously and intentionally disgracing our flag, I can't say I have a problem with it.

According the official flag policy, when flying multiple flags all flags are to be exactly equal in height. Thus, there's no disrespect at all. My favorite bar is a Scottish pub owned by a Scottish immigrant and he flies the Scottish flag on one side and the US flag on the other. There's nothing wrong with people still loving their home country as well as the US.

I have a Finnish flag in my room that was sent to me by my foreign exchange "brother" from high school. I love having it because it reminds me of the that great year when a crazy Finnish guy lived with my family. Does that mean I don't love America? Does that mean I have no respect for the US? No.

So, in all, I'd have to disagree with you. I don't think it's disrespectful in any way, shape, or form to have other flags - as long as they are not flown above the American flag.

Sorry, pal, but according to The Flag Code it is entirely appropriate to fly the flags of friendly foreign nations.

There is only one restriction. All national flags shall fly at the same height -- nothing higher than or lower than Old Glory.

So, "We the People" most certainly DO fly the flags of many nations. And most of us do it quite properly!

And do not forget our military bases on foreign soil. We fly the flag of our host nation right along side of Old Glory right there in front of the HQ building. And we play BOTH national anthems at Retreat. And we salute BOTH flags as they are retired for the day.

If you wish to only fly Old Glory, then by all means do so. But don't criticize someone else for flying other nations' flags, especially when they do it in accordance with the law.

Flying flags of other nations is often a matter of courtesy. The US has restrictions on how foreign flags are flown WITH a US flag, but otherwise, our nation's tradition of freedoms of speech and expression says that we WELCOME your (or anyone's) right to display the banner you are proud of. It may be the flag of the nation of your or your ancestor's birth.

First, why the outrage? Especially why take offence at what people IN Mexico were displaying? Second, you quote the statement, "We, the people," as if were exclusive to you and whatever you consider your kind. If I were to state, here, for instance, that I beleive it is all right for flags of foreign nations to fly outside the United Nations, am I excluded from being able to count myself as one of those people, designated as "We," in the Constitution of the United States? Understand, this is the same document that says I can fly my flag, the flag of my grandparents, the flag of my favorite World Cup soccer nation, or a tee shirt adorned with the image of these flags. Or, for that matter, burn any and all of these flags.

I must wonder how you can, either pick and choose which part of the Constitution you wish to support, or, how you can cite a portion of that document without knowing what the rest of it states.

I hereby exlude YOU from being counted as part of my "We."

By law, any business can fly a flag from another nation, but the foreign flag CANNOT be raised higher than the American flag if both flags are flown side by side. In fact no flag can be raised above the American flag.

Get over it. You can fly a flag with a picture of your butt on it if you want so long as it does not conflict with some local lewdness law you could be subject to. That's one of the beauties of this country...maybe you've heard of it...freedom. Being in Texas I know a ton of US citizens that were born in Mexico. They do NOT have to drop their heritage because narrow minded people may drive by.

Well you have to consider that like you stated since we are soviergn, we could do what ever we want. It's covered by the constitution as freedom of speech. Like many immigrants, these people wanna represnt their heritages as well as their patriotism for America.

It is perfectly acceptable to fly other flags in this country along with the American flag but they must be at the same hight and size.
