My little sister is 12 (going to be 13 in September, 8th grade this year) and she is wearing makeup. Coverup, light grey eyeshadow (she has beautiful blue eyes, I'm so jealous ;o) and mascara. No eyeliner. Is that too much for an 8th grader? And do you think that she should wear a different shade of eyeshadow?

I just hope she's also using a good skin care regimine. Otherwise she's going to get some nasty acne when puberty hits full force in the next year or 2. Coverup (foundation) is probably much more than her skin needs and will clog her pores leading to painful outbreaks. The longer she stays away from that, the better. You can suggest that she use Dove Foaming Cleanser to keep her pores clean and Dove Energy Glow instead of foundation...it's a moisturizer with a tint of color to it that makes you look like you got a little sun.

If she wants to wear a hint of eyeshadow and some brown mascara, though, she should be fine.

My sister will be going into 9th grade this fall and she started wearing make-up in 8th. I don't think that is much at all. She also wears the same and a little blush. She has long beautiful eyelashes, so she doesn't need mascara. Some of her friends wear eyeliner and I feel like that is too much. It makes them come off a bit trashy (mainly b/c they don't know how to apply it properly). I think the grey is a great choice - it's not too dark or flashy.

Girls are pressed to look older than they are when they're young, and then spend the rest of their lives trying to look younger when they aren't anymore.

12 years is too soon for makeup, no matter what everyone else says. Maybe some lipgloss but at that age you certainly don't need any of that stuff, besides at 12 what the hell can you know or possibly care about good skin health routines. Makeup clogs pores if not removed entirely. Also beware because at that age you are acne prone and acne is not helped at all by makeup.
Wait at least until you are 15 or 17.
A very young girl wearing makeup also sends out the wrong signals, like she is available and experienced.
You´ll be using makeup the rest of your life, why hurry it up?

I think that 8th grade is an okay age to wear a little makeup since she'll be going into high school the next year. When I say a little makeup I mean maybe some lip gloss, cover up, and light eye shadow - nothing heavy or too noticeable.

Im in eighth grade too ! I placed on makeup. i do not imagine we ought to always be going all out on makeup yet in spite of the indisputable fact that. yet once you've pimples to conceal up then it is fantastic. do exactly not bypass overboard with a great number of eye makeup. truly in college and then even as ur out or at a school dance then it is distinctive interesting and an truly good time to allow ppl see you all dolled up(: I placed on neutrogena epidermis clearing makeup. It seems quite good and covers large ! also its a pimples medicine too, so it quite works to sparkling your breakouts too. So it received't decrease to rubble ur epidermis no matter if you do not have pimples. So I propose that. And ik it truly is what maximum of my acquaintances use too. P.S. we quite are not too youngto be wearing make up. were little ones and virtually in extreme college . So i do not imagine it is that vast of a deal in case you only do not over do it. good success !

i think it's fine, but keep reminding her to keep it light. but try not to let her where eye liner until she is in high school though. it gives a more sluttish look to those who are or look younger. the cover up is fine. it's not that noticeable, mascara is fine too. oh, try a light brown color of eyeshadow. i personally like the way it looks on people. it isn't too much but it's there enough to give some shade. but besides that, i think it's fine, the light gray eyeshadow isn't that bad. just as long as it stays light. :)

oh, she can also try some blush. not to much though. it's easy to go over board on blush. but put just enough on to give a shade to the cheek bones. then blend into the skin so there isn't a definat line. :)

i think that amount of make up is fine although, most young people really don't need coverup...it's actually pretty bad for the skin so i'd lay off of it if at all possible. she could wear different colored eyeshadow if she wanted...depending on her skin tone, blue, gold, copper and bronze all work well with blue eyes. (i have blue eyes)

I feel that 12 going on 13 is not too young for girls to wear makeup as long as it is worn in good taste.
