Go to stick the key in the ignition, and the key won't turn either way, just stuck. Tried the spare key, same thing. Can't exactly take the car to the shop, since I can't get the car to start. Can hear the dinging noise when the door is open. The radio stays on now, even though there is no key in the ignition.

The ignition switch is jammed...have you noticed any scratches, etc around it? It's possible someone may have tried to steal your car and started to force it but got interrupted or scared off somehow. Try a couple of things...but DON't squirt any liquid lubricant, graphite, or anything else in there or you could short out something and cause even more trouble. First, try to move the steering wheel from side to side, and don't be too gentle. It may jar the switch loose. Also, insert the key, push in as far as you can, turn it BACKWARDS a little (don't force it if it doesn't want to go), then try turning it normally. If these things don't jar it loose, then you'll need a new ignition switch. You'll have to have the car towed into the dealer. Turn the radio off to save on the battery. Replacing the switch shouldn't take them too long, and won't cost you anything if it's still under warranty. I've heard the Focus is notorious for nickel & dime problems like this.

I hope this helped a little.

Yes buy a chevy.. then the local car thefs can get it gone in 30 secs.. they had aftermarket covers because it was such a problem...

OK enough GM bashing (I own one of those models BTW) but on yours there is a TSB that the key clyinders are junk and need to be changed with a revised one.... (and no, it's not a recall)

Wanna try a hint a sage once told me... tap on the key in the ignition with something hard and sometimes ignition clyinders will turn.. but once it does..bring it to the ford dealer.. and DON"T SHUT IT OFF... unless you want to drill it out..(which is what will happen if the tapping doesn't work...)

Leave the keys in there...hopefully somebody will try to break into it and then break the steering column....then get the insurance involved. If possible ...record the whole incident....sell it to FOX networks and make some more cash.
