No, she wasn't mentally disturbed to begin with. The murder was real, the movie half dealt with a cop trying to catch the British killer, yes, he was a British guy, at least in the first one. Did you see the first one or the remake. If you saw the remake, what am I talking about?

She went through it.She went to go watch the kids to pay the cell phone bill the killer was really in the house apparently he was going around killing some other people they made a statement about it towards the end. They took her to the hospital for help after that ordeal I guess they figured she could use it,they sudated her and she woke up screaming thinking he was in the room with her but he was'nt it's called a nightmare. But yes she really went through it.

That's an excellent question but since she had a dream about the killer coming after her I think we can conclude that she was mentally disturbed because of the episodes she had trying to stay alive and rescue the children. Have u ever seen the first one? It was almost horrible.

She was there as a result of her experience. She does, at the end though, dream of an empty hospital and then the phone rinning. That was a dream, everything else was real!

most likely she was in there as a result of her experience with the killer and like was traumatized for life or something like that.
