the house has 2 bedrooms upstairs,2 fireplaces upstairs,in each bedroom,1 bedroom downstairs,with a fireplace and also a fireplace in the living area,it has gas lighting for light,it has an A-frame build.The basement has a coal vent.

Oh wait, that's for trees. Ummmm, I think the coal vent gives you some idea. You were smart enough to buy an A-frame, so I think you can date it pretty close, given coal was used for only a certain period of time. Me on the other hand, without getting off my lazy butt, couldn't even begin to tell you....

If your house still has the original fixtures, a quick easy trick is to look in the toilet tank. There is usually a manufacturing date that will tell you within a couple of years when the place was built.

Check with the agency that does assessment (city/county) and they would usually have information. My city has the records available online, and using that I found the year it was built and also that the square footage of the house may have been overstated on the ad when we bought it (unless you count the garage)!

County records dept, or the tax dept, they usually have all the info on properties you'll need, including the year it was built. Its a matter of public record.

Go to city hall there should be a record of your property there, where the tax assessors office is, they should have all that there for you!

You should be able to go to the court house in which the house is in and ask them about it.

go online to your county property appraisers site and it will give you the actual year built.
