Seriously. We are born to die the minute we are concieved. We can die at anytime. There is no guarantee when. We can die walking outside, riding in a car or by simply staying at home watching TV. If this is so then why do people try to get rich? Why do we yearn for the best things...?

Some people just want to fill that their life was no in vain or worthless.......they want to feel fulfilled and whatever it takes to make them feel that way is what they strive for.........although as you say you can be cut short in the process but to be remembered as someone who lived life and not watched as it passed them by gives some sense of self and worth........

Noone thinks consciously about that aspect because no one is looking forward to dying so they look forward to things which may make them feel fulfilled in some way shape or form........for some its money for others its just about living life through love and making the best of your situation..........

Others who get swayed for one reason or another from that journey fall off into lives of drugs or paths that ultimately lead them to spend the rest of their days in jail.......and those are the people that could care less because they never felt or have lost the feeling of self worth at some point along the way........

It just human nature of sorts........its just live and learn and hope for the best..........until its your time........and when its all said and done........none of it really matters anway...............so enjoy it while you can.............

I think it's a biological imperitive to compete. In nature animals that compete well succesfully reproduce. So it's not the money or the stuff it's the satisfaction of being better than the next person that drives so many to do that. The paradoxical part is that kind of satisfaction has little to do with psychological happiness. Some of the happiest people I've met are not successfull, and some successfull people are happy becasue of things that have nothing to do with their success.

Good question!! Perhaps it is the insecurity of the unknown?

In my opinion, mankind is so accustomed to imitation of himself meaning we did what our parents did. Since there has been this idea of bigger, better, faster, it continues to blossom as wealth is available. If we taught ourselves to only think of corn, then that would be accomplished as well.

Just think of inventions. What out there is REALLY that unique? So many things that we use are a modification or imitation of something else. A computer evolved from a typewriter. A typewriter from a printing press. A printing press from how to put together a book. Only the first of anything is really that unique.

They try to get rich to make the most of the time they have here on earth!! Seems pretty obvious to me. It's a pretty crummy life for poor people. Anybody would rather be rich than poor.

It is only your "body" that acually "dies" when you die. But you also have a "soul", and your soul...which is truly "you"...continues to exist for all eternity. You were born into this world for one true purpose only, and that is to make a "choice" where you want to spend "eternity"...either in heaven or in hell. To spend eternity in hell you have nothing to do...you are already going to go there when you die. The choice you have to make is whether or not you receive Jesus Christ as your Personal Saviour. He is call a "Saviour" because He alone can "Save" you from spending eternity in Hell...a Hell which is just as literal as your life here on the earth. The difference is that on earth is temporary, whereas your souls' existance is for all "eternity". Where do you want to spend Eternity? THAT is the only true objective for which you were born...to make a "choice"...where do you want to go from here...Heaven or Hell...the "choice" is YOURS.

I like to have the best life possible before I die. That way, when I die, I won't be like "Damn, I missed my chance to buy a Corvette."

That's a very interesting point of view. In my opinion, why live your life miserable? Enjoy it while you're here.

well if you're a christian, they believe in a resurrection if you live a righteous life, some go to heaven, the rest will be in paradise, like when Jesus promised the criminal next to him.
