I still beleive that America is a great nation and that we represent freedom all over the world. I still believe that we in America enjoy the best life style in the world. If that makes me a red neck so be it.

Hey Michelle, How do you know what I stand for. Did you happen to get (or were you too wrapped up in your own arragont answer) that everyone else saw what I was trying to say. Even those who dissagree with me politically. Congradulations on being the only Idiot that answered this question.

The hell with what other people think. Do what you feel is best for you! Those that call you names have no direction in their lives. At least you understand what a great country this really is!! I guess that makes me a red neck too!! See, you're not alone!!

there's nothing wrong with standing up for your people and your home, but it sure would be a lot nicer if some Americans learned how to read something more advanced than cereal boxes and had some productive activities that didn't involve playing with their big vibrating rockets to hide their tiny penises
At least you use the word "believe"instead of "know" because I can't think of a single instance in the last 50 years that America around the world has stood for anything other than greed and terrorism, and if you, from what I am supposing is your very priiveledged position, would take a look at the poverty that exists in the USA, maybe your "beliefs" would be a little shaken.
Go ahead. Be proud. But you owe yourself just a tiny smidgen of honesty too. Open your eyes. Turn off the tv.

Good question. I don't know why any intelligent person would get a red neck and a patriot confused. I mean the term "red neck" is hardly held in high regard. Hell, Jeff Foxsworthy made the joke, "You know you're a red neck, when you cut your lawn and you find an abandoned car." Now that doesn't sound like anyone you'd admire. Yet, a patriot is someone you would admire. A patirot cares about this country and what is stands for. A patriot knows this is the home of free, and the land of the brave. A patirot believes in equality for every person in this country. A patriot knows there is strength in diversity and unity. A patriot does not see different groups, they only see Americans. Basically, if you believe in less, you know you're a "red neck".

You are not a redneck. There is a great joy which can be had from being an American, and taking advantage of all this country has to offer. I consider you a fellow patriot.
As for people who would denigrate you for being a patriot, I would say they have a sad existence. In America we have the right to hold opinions. I don't judge anyone for having opinions even if I do not personally agree with them. However I take exception to name calling. Just remember pride carries it's own rewards. If someone tries to make you feel bad about feeling good, just take pity on them, because their own self loathing does more damage to their psyche than any words you could say.

That doesn't make you a "redneck". I was born and raised a redneck, so I should know.

"Redneck" is a derogatory term (reclaimed by folks like Jeff Foxworthy) for country folk.

The use of the term in politics tends to focus on southern or rural Midwestern voters who vote on "values issues" and not so much on "policy issues".

So, America is a great nation, spreading freedom is a good thing (when handled well - we can disagree on this one), and Americans do generally lead the best life-style in the world. That doesn't make you a redneck in any way shape or form.

That Confederate flag on your pick-up truck, well... (just kidding)

Actually ignorant white people are called rednecks, and it's a racist term. Feel free to report anyone who calls you a redneck, and yahoo will start taking actions against the people who use such abusive language.

I've read through your recent questions, and I'd like to point out that from my perspective, you seem to spend more time standing up for President Bush than you do for America. That's not to say you're attacking the country, just saying that the two aren't synonomous. Even the President has acknowledged that he's made mistakes. If you'd like to defend him, that's absolutely your right, but please don't try to demonize people who disagree by challenging their patriotism. It's inflammatory and rude.

hey,
but do you know there are more than just one America?
There is the America of satisfaction whatever your needs might be.
There is the America of those maniacs who take their rifles, barbecues and hectolitres of beers and go looking after "their borders" in the night breaks between cutting their grassfields during the day.
There is the America of nature and culture.
There is the America of Tolerance and horrible misantropy, the America God and Money, the America of Freedom and the America of Terror, and...
There are many more Americas, so first - let's agree which one of those we are talking about.
I am not American, I haven't been to the States (take this stupid and humiliating visa procedure - no, thank you - but hopefully it's over now), but I've met some Americans and what I can say is that They are very ok people. It is disturbing, though, that sometimes they - You - take so light some things which might have different weight for different people, and thus can easily hurt them: just due to Your stupidity, lack of awareness, lack of knowledge, lack of understanding.
But when I say to Americans that they are just dangerous a*s*s*h*o*l*e*s - they agree.
And that's sweet.

Amen Brother. Your not a red neck. Don't let anyone tell You any differently. I applaud Your beliefs. They have a right to Their opinion, and so do We. We are outnumbered looks like, but standing up for right, will always be more difficult. Anyone can just make up something. Looks like George W. Bush is getting blamed for everything. Next it will be His fault People are losing Their hair, or someone broke a nail. Hang in there, you are not alone. As long as they are free, and breathing, they should first thank God, and then Bush. If anyone thinks they can do better, I haven't seen any evidence of it.

I have the same mentality as described in the Charlie Daniels Band's song In America

"We may have done a little bit of fighting amongst ourselves but you outside people best leave us alone"

I have plenty of issues with the way this country is run, but I love it nonetheless. We're all human (whether we admit it or not) and we all have our own flaws and make our own mistakes. The only difference is that we don't all have the same flaws and we don't allmake the same mistakes which, unfortunately, causes some people to presume that they are better than others.

I've been called a "red neck" myself and for the most part I guess I am. I love this country and what it stands for. I do not however support this administration. I think that Sept 11Th is one of the biggest cover ups in history. I think that every action taken sense 911 is not in th best interest of the American people. The Patriot Act is a oxymoron. It sacrifices liberty for security.

Any one who would sacrifice liberty for security deserves neither and will lose both - Benjamin Franklin

I simply call the people who support this administration and all the actions taken sense Sept 11Th. UNINFORMED
