I'm looking for information regarding Catholic orphan homes that were in existence in St. Louis, MO at the turn of the 20th century. I'm looking for names of the homes, addresses, etc. At that time, orphan homes were either for girls or boys. Any information would be helpful. Thanks.

Okay here is what I learned from the archivist here on campus... (a sister of St Joseph - CSJ - the same ones who work with the deaf and disabled as well as in education) Good luck in your quest! I wish you success.

Your best first source of information about the Catholic orphanages is: Audrey Newcomer, Director of Archives for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

Her email is: anewcomer@archstl.org.

Audrey is very helpful. Since this is vacation season, you might give the office a call to see if she is there.
Her secretary is Elaine Snyder. esnyder@archstl.org
